This Saturday the east side of Yokota hosted the Sakura Walk. The Sakura Walk is a day where Yokota AB opens its East Gate to the surrounding Japanese community. McGuire Avenue is closed to traffic and people can walk along the cherry blossom lined streets.
Along with the very enjoyable pastime of cherry blossom viewing, there was food and music courtesy of the USAF band...
There were also displays and demos from different base departments, such as the fire department.
And as with most base events, there were a few kids play areas. "A" and Doug seemed to enjoy the structure on the left. You were tied to a bungee cord and needed to see how far you could run to place a bean bag on the side before being yanked back by the cord.
It wasn't a big event, but it was perfect time to celebrate not only spring coming but the friendship between Yokota and its Japanese neighbors.
